Biography

Mara Espinosa Erda (b. 2003, Peru) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Rome whose artistic research seeks to uncover the hidden structures that shape both human experience and the universe beyond us. Through her body, mind, and personal encounters, she investigates how we function as individuals and as a collective, weaving together cultural memory with the speculative frameworks of modern physics and philosophy. Concepts such as superposition, parallel realities, and the non-linearity of time become metaphors through which she reframes lived experience, proposing alternative ways of understanding the world.

Her practice is rooted in painting, installation, performance, and printmaking, yet it constantly expands toward conceptual and cross-disciplinary territories. By merging Andean iconography and cultural heritage with ontological questions posed by physics, Espinosa Erda builds a dialogue where scientific abstraction meets embodied experience. This interplay produces works that dislocate perception mirrors that fracture images, shadows that misalign with their objects, or geometric forms that unfold into infinite variations revealing that what we perceive as reality is always partial and unstable.

At the core of her work lies the desire to give form to what usually escapes visibility: the latent structures of existence, the contradictions between permanence and impermanence, and the spaces where cultural, personal, and cosmic narratives converge. In this sense, her practice becomes a continuous search for alternative explanations, bridging inner life and outer cosmos, the intimate and the universal.
